The Questioner "I think we can be really smart about how we deliver this because the outrage I've seen myself across all social media platforms has been around how our HECS and our fear taxes actually provide more to this country than the multinationals and the resource sector. And I know just from my personal community, that's the fire in everyone's bellys. That, if we're smart, we could actually do something around that. Obviously, Labor is working on the budget for May, and there will be some announcements, I'm sure, on those lines. But in my mind, that's where the changes really need to be initiated because this fact really comes down, even the housing issue, comes down to equity.
So people don't mind other people having a bit more if we're not going backwards for it. And what we see is very young people in our community just are going backwards.
And there are so many issues that my own children are struggling to pay their HECS debts off, and they're seeing that they're paying more for their HECS fees than Santos is paying in tax. So there's so much inequity across the community that is really outraging people. And to build upon what you were saying, Wayne, that we need more members, we need more younger members because they're the future of this movement. And the younger members are the ones directly impacted by housing, by HECS debts, by tax, all of it."
